Akfix A1500 Fireplace Sealant is a one-component, silicate-based joint filler specially formulated for high-temperature sealing and insulation applications. It withstands temperatures up to +2732°F (1500°C), making it ideal for fireplaces, stoves, ovens, and chimneys. The paste consistency ensures easy application, smooth finishing, and long-lasting adhesion to porous materials like brick, stone, and concrete.
Key Features & Benefits
- Extreme Heat Resistance: Withstands direct flame and temperatures up to +2732°F.
- Durable & Crack-Free: No fragmentation or cracking after curing.
- Fast Drying Formula: Quick skin formation and rapid curing for efficient work.
- Excellent Workability: Easy to apply, shape, and clean before curing.
- Low Odor & Paintable: Safe indoor use; can be painted with heat-resistant paints.
- Versatile Use: Bonds perfectly to brick, concrete, stone, and metal surfaces.
Typical Applications
- Sealing and insulating joints exposed to high heat.
- Filling cracks in fireplaces, chimneys, wood stoves, and ovens.
- Suitable for sealing soot doors and joints in heating systems.
- Adheres well to stone, brick, concrete, and metal (use caution—metal expands with heat).
How to Use
- Surface Prep: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust or oil. Slightly moisten very porous surfaces.
- Application: Apply sealant with a caulking gun. Smooth with a scraper or putty knife.
- Curing: Allow to dry completely. Gradually heat up to +482°F (250°C) for final hardening — it will turn dark grey and become extra tough.
- Cleanup: Remove uncured material with water; cured sealant must be removed mechanically.
Limitations: Not suitable for moving joints or materials that expand/contract with temperature.
Safety: Use in a well-ventilated area, wear gloves and eye protection, and follow MSDS guidelines.
