The pu spray foam is amazing I’m building a new modern house 12’-30’ ceilings on the first floor this is definitely something a homeowner can do and save about 50% compared to hiring it out possibly more I have 6” studs and bought used/repurposed poly iso board at about 15-25 cents per board foot and did a mixture of iso board and akfix spray foam to fill my wall and ceiling cavities I did a quick seal with the spray foam while it was curing a put in the iso board and then let everything cure and went back over the area filling the cavity with foam I believe my r value is around 30-32 I’m not even completely finished and there is a huge difference in the house I have a single space heater and it’s around freezing outside I’ve been comfortable around 68-70 F
I do have a few tips you might try to make it a little easier
Do multiple layers the thinner the better let it dry and cure and spray again so it doesn’t get to thick on you and drop to the floor or move to the wrong area especially on the ceiling the thinner it is the smoother it’ll be less waste if you are trying to completely fill the cavity and cut off excess
Keep plenty of the cleaner and a few extra spray guns around I’m a very fast paced worker and I still clogged the guns they are a pain to keep clean so have lots of area ready and keep spraying don’t leave foam in the gun under any circumstances
If you do completely clog a gun take the top off and soak in acetone
I’m adding a few pictures it’s not complete but I highly recommend this if you are a diy person
